Although the last decade of the century continued the growth, the start of the 1990’s was not easy. Economical recession shook Finnish industry and window manufacturers had their share of it. Skaala was, however, able to pull through the hard times and the decade as a whole was a great success.

The company invested in production automation, developed new materials and started to manufacture exterior and patio doors. The first steps in export market were taken as Skaala started to make windows for log-house manufacturers who were exporting their products internationally. During the 1990’s Mr. Markku Hautanen, brother of Hannu and Jarmo, joined in as the CEO of the company.
