Skaala opens new window factory in St. Petersburg, Russia
Skaala strengthens its position in Russian window business as it is opening a brand new factory in St. Petersburg. The four-million-euro investment covers a full-scale window manufacturing facility. The project is partially funded by Finnfund. Finnish government representative Mr. Erkki Virtanen and St. Petersburg governor Mr. Marat Melsovich Oganesyan will bring their government greetings to the opening ceremony that are to be held today.
- This new factory opening is part of our long-term strategy. For several reasons, utilizing the full potential of Russian market demands commitments in manufacturing processes and facilities as well. Working only through a local sales unit is not enough. Despite the economical uncertainty at the moment, we see the necessary elements in Russian market functioning, and the market demand increasing in high-quality and energy efficient products, Markku Hautanen, the CEO of Skaala Group, states.
The new factory locates in a perfect logistical spot alongside the ring road in the Zvezdan industrial park. Manufacturing covers a variety of timber-aluminum window models for different needs. Finished products are delivered to Russian domestic market, where Skaala already has a comprehensive sales network. Total annual volume will be around 50.000 window units, employing some 30 workers. OOO Skaala’s managing director is Mr. Jouni Niinikoski.
